An Electrician in Ahwatukee Can Help You Safely Move Appliances and Wiring

As we covered previously, electrical wires run throughout many of the walls in your home, and if you are thinking about making a significant renovation in your home, you will need to use the skilled services of a licensed electrician. The electrical wires may need to be removed before a wall is taken out of your home, and you may need to run new wiring to a new wing or room that is being constructed. In addition, if you have plans to relocate major appliances, such as when remodeling the kitchen or laundry room, you may need to use the services of electrician to move the power outlets. These are just some of the many ways that an electrician may be used effectively during a renovation.

Electricity is vital in every room in your home, and an electrician's services can be used to promote improved ambiance, aesthetic appeal and function throughout the property. Consider contacting an electrical contractor today to discuss your upcoming improvement projects in more detail.

Ceiling Fan Installation

Ceiling fans are permanent, more expensive, and need installation by a residential electrician. They give steady, long-term cooling and circulation. Box fans are portable, less-expensive and can be used in specific areas. However, they need more cleaning, must be carried and re-positioned, and can fall over easily.Electricians become expert in their field because of years of classroom instruction, ample training, and apprenticeship. The years they spent in learning are rigorous. Getting their license is also difficult. Aside from passing the test, there are certain requirements such as a number of actual work hours during apprenticeship that need to be fulfilled. So if you want to be an electrician, you need to be serious about it because it is a serious job that entails a lot of hard years of training therefore dedication to the craft is a must.

Most residential electricians offer services that cover any type of wiring and installation a home might need. Many of these companies even offer low voltage wiring as well as high voltage. What low voltage refers to are internet and phone lines exclusively, or for many modern homes, alarm systems, PA systems, and speaker systems. The more custom the home is, the more wiring and installation that is needed. Theater rooms, hot tubs, pa systems, and other types of systems need to be well planned out before the actual wiring begins.

Their services are usually acquired through a phone call. The commercial electricians, on the other hand, are mostly employed by contractors who have working relationships with construction and building firms. Commercial electricians are working with electrical systems and components with higher voltages.
So whatever the job, a residential electrician is the guy to consult.

Research Your Electrician in Ahwatukee

Before you hire an electrician in Ahwatukee, make sure you do some research first.

Research Your Electrician Contractor in Ahwatukee

It's actually quite simple. A reputable electrical contractor will get work only if they provide quality work. In a small town in the middle of nowhere, a fly by night operation can stay in business because they are the only name in town. In a major metropolitan area such as Ahwatukee, good work matters.  But how do you find out if they do quality work?
First off, what's their reputation like? Look online and if someone you know has had any electrical panel upgrades or repairs done, ask them who they contacted.
Even something as simple as installing a ceiling fan can be an indicator of a competent Ahwatukee electrician.  Another resource to look at is a Better Business Bureau rating.  If they have a large number of complaints that have not been addressed, find another provider.  Why hiring an electrician that is both reputable and qualified matters so much boils down to your safety as well as the safety of your home.  An electrician has to know how to detect problems in a wiring system.

The Things an Ahwatukee Electrician Knows

They also have to make sure that the wiring goes into the walls of the building because people don't like seeing electrical wires on the walls or floors. In a commercial building, electricity becomes very important because almost all the equipment used in the building requires electricity.
People hiring electrician contractors must run a background check on them so as to insure that the contractors have the right qualification and experience to do this task. You can take the help of the Internet in finding out the top electrical contractors in the region. Do some research before hiring someone because this job is very crucial from your future perspective as well, so you can't take any chances.
You also want to run a background check on them to make sure they are not only licensed, but bonded and insured as well.  Otherwise, you run the risk of finding one that is shady.  And if they can't be bonded, you might want to figure out why.  For example, back east, there was a case where someone hired a non-bonded electrician contractor who turned out to be burglar.
Ultimately though, find someone that can do the job you need, who is also trustworthy.  Then  you know that you've found the best electrician in Ahwatukee.

Hiring a Residential Electrician in Ahwatukee

Continuing from our previous list, here are more reasons to hire a qualified residential electrician.
  1. Electricians are licensed
Another crucial reason for hiring a professional technician is the license. Before any technician is issued with the required license, they are first expected to fulfill certain needs and specifications. It is often hard to know the qualifications of specialists. However, if an individual or a company has an authentic, valid license that can be a good indicator that they are qualified to offer electrical services. Therefore, you should ensure that you hire a licensed electrician.
  1. Insurance
This is another reason for hiring an electrician. You should choose a professional with the right liability insurance. Electrical services that are covered by an insurance company are crucial since they ensure that you are safeguarded adequately in case an accident arise. Moreover, it is paramount that you check the insurance certificate to establish whether the policy is right for the project. So, it is paramount that you hire an insured professional to install new switches, fixtures, or outlets in your home. If you do so, you will be able to ensure that all the electrical works are fitted according to the required standards. Besides, you are covered in the event that an accident occurs.
  1. Professionalism
You will always be at ease in the presence of the technician. After you have contacted your electrician to assess your work, it is important that you assess their attitude. You should find out if the technician is approaching the job with professionalism and evaluate their attitude towards the job.
  1. Up-to-date training
Electricians have up to date training. When you are hiring a technician, it is significant to select a professional that stays up-to-date with all education and training. Ideally, nearly all electrical companies send their electricians to semiannual education and training courses. Besides, you should ensure that your electrician have information regarding the latest updates to the National Electrical Code. For sure, if you choose an electrician in Ahwatukee that stays up to date you will get the best possible electrical services.

Why Hire a Residential Electrician for Electrical Upgrades and Repairs (Conclusion)

Why do you want to hire a residential electrician? Simple.  You want a specialist on your side.

A Residential Electrician Has Experience and Knows the Risks

As we covered previously, not only can a professional electrician keep you safe, but he can ultimately save you some money.
You want to hire somebody who not only has the experience and understands the cost of a single blunder, but also has specialized tools and equipment for the job.
You can be sure to get this from a professional residential electrician. Specialization results in a perfectly completed job.  There are mainly two categories of electricians out there: residential and industrial.
Homeowners will need a residential electrician to handle their problems as they are sure they are specifically trained for that job. Though some electricians may be trained in both fields, the scope of work for each category is different from the other. This means that sticking to one area of expertise helps the electrician to perfect their knowledge and experience on it, and therefore deliver excellent results.

Hire Peace of Mind as Well as Your Electrician Contractor

Your peace of mind is assured. If you asked somebody who once took electrical projects as DIY tasks and hired a professional electrician on another occasion, the time they felt more comfortable with the issue is when they hired a professional.
So much peace comes with the thought that a professional electrician fixed your electricity problems effectively. You are sure they know the precautionary measures to take and always double check to be sure they do it right in the first instance. What about when you handle an electrical problem, especially a complex one all by yourself? “Did I connect the wires right? What if I did faulty wiring? Is it safe for my electronics? What if someone gets an electric shock?” These kind of questions disturb your peace- something which is not the case with being sure that everything is done just right by a professional.
These are more than enough reasons for you to hire a residential electrician next time you are doing your electric upgrades and repairs. There is quick delivery, cost effectiveness, saving on time and most importantly safety. One piece of advice though, do not start looking for a residential electrician when you actually need them. To be on the safe side, gather information about them and get their contacts long before an emergency occurs. This saves you a lot of frustrations at the end of the day.
So stay calm.  Call an electrician in Ahwatukee today.

Why Hiring an Electrician Makes Sense

At one point, you may require an electrician to do installations, upgrades, or repairs to your home electrical system. It could be installing or fixing an outlet in your house, upgrading a power panel, wiring outlets, fixing faulty wiring and electronics or some other issue involving the network of wires and connections in your home. All of your electrical wiring should connect perfectly and work as expected.
There are a lot of risks of doing complex electrical work on your own. Electrical injury and fire damage are some of the dangers you may face if you decide to try to install, upgrade, or repair your system without consulting a qualified residential electrician. With that said, it therefore important to hire a qualified professional.

Why You Should Hire a Residential Electrician

There are a lot of reasons to go with a pro.  For one thing, their services are available on a short notice.  If you are going through an electrical wiring emergency, it really has to be done immediately- like now. For example, the dangers of having a bare wire  running through the kitchen near a water source cannot be ignored, an immediate action should be taken ASAP. Emergencies are unpredictable, so electrician’s services must be accessible at any time of the day. They should be available 24/7. Residential electricians assure you that, once you contact them at whichever time, they will be their shortly to deal with your problem immediately.
They can keep you safe.  So much harm and damage can be caused by the slightest error in handling electricity. Damage of valuable equipment, property and most importantly, loss of people’s lives is bad news to anyone. That is why you need to be careful when dealing with your electricity problems. That's where  professional residential electrician comes in. He has what it takes to work on your electric system effectively, since he knows the precautionary measures needed for a safety completion of work.
So remember, it is all too easy to be a statistic.  Don't be one.  Don't be one of the 30,000 people every year who suffer an electrical injury or death because of an electrical accident.  Don't be one of the people that drive up insurance claims because of damage to your home.  Call a residential electrician instead.

Electrical Inspections and Why You Should Do Them

Every homeowner should have an electrical wiring inspection every year. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, there are 28,000 electrical fires every year resulting in over 300 deaths and over $1 billion in property damage. Electrical fires can be prevented. An experienced electrician will identify the electrical hazards in your home and correct them.

THE SAFETY OF THE HOME IS THE FIRST PRIORITY
While there are many electrical advancements which can be added to your home, safety is the first consideration a homeowner should have. Electrical problems that can lead to fires include:

1. Overloaded circuits
2. Too many extension cords.
3. Circuit breakers that trip and fuses that blow out.
4. Light fixtures, lamps and bulbs
5. An old circuit breaker box or fuse panel
6. Faulty electrical outlets
7. Junction boxes that are behind walls or above the ceiling.
8. Wiring that is 20 years old and is likely worn form overuse.
Many electrical appliances were not available 20 years ago or even 10 years ago. These appliances create an electrical demand which the existing wiring cannot handle. This condition will cause multiple problems with the home's wiring, and will often lead to a fire starting in the home. Appliances may have frayed electrical cords which can send heat onto combustible surfaces. The average home has electrical safety issues which the owner does not recognize.   And in some cases, the circuit can't take the extra load on it, which can lead to your breaker tripping.

Electrical Wiring Projects

Many home improvements can be made by the use of added electrical circuits. Indoor and outdoor lighting features are enhancements to the enjoyment of the home, and these features will increase the safety of both the occupants and the guests.   And sometimes, these projects can also improve your home's ambiance as well, particularly where accent lighting is concerned.
If you use electricity the right way it can make life a whole lot easier.  So remember, you want to stay safe and not end up a statistic.  Electrical accidents are one of the biggest causes of injury and death in the United States.  In addition, electrical accidents can cause fires and other property damage.  So, to avoid this, there is a simple step that you can take.  Get on the phone and call your electrician.

Electrical Projects: Using Alcove Lighting

Alcove lighting can remodel your home without decimating your budget.  First off, let's look at lighting choices.

Types of Alcove Lighting

Install alcove lighting | (480) 926-1033
Install alcove lighting | (480) 926-1033
In our last article, we covered swimming pool lights.
As your electrician in Ahwatukee, however, we feel that some areas of the home can also do with a bit of electrical remodeling. One area that is a good way to remodel is to do alcove lighting. There are two types of alcove lighting, incandescent bulbs and LED.  While CFL bulbs are around, they look odd in accent lighting.  After all, unless you get the bulb variety, a CFL bulb looks rather like a soft-serve ice cream cone.  LED lighting has the advantage that you can save a bit of money on your electric bill and they last for anywhere between 3 and 5 years.  LED light, however, can often be a bit bright for an alcove  unless you get a lower wattage.
Like LED bulbs, if you wish to use incandescent bulbs in an alcove, you also want to use lower wattage. Remember, an alcove is essentially accent lighting. You want to highlight a feature of a room, not overpower the room, which leads us to our next point: using colored lights.

Less is More with Alcove Lighting

Remember, where alcove lighting is concerned, less is more. You don't want your alcove to be overpowering. If you want to use colored lights, just remember that if you're not careful, too many colors in an alcove will look garish and unsettling. Avoid color-changing LED lights. You want a nice alcove, not a circus tent. If you're going to use colored lights in your alcove, use either a neutral color or a complementary color. Sepia and amber light look good almost everywhere, red, green, blue and purple, not as much.
Another thing to consider with this wiring project is the advice of a professional. You want to make sure that you get the right type of recessed lighting for your alcove. You want to make sure that it is compatible with your current electrical wiring as well as practical concerns such as whether or not it will melt with high watt lights. Some plastic light fixtures can warp with even the heat of a light bulb. The bottom line of lighting is that you want to use lights that are below 60 watts. You want your lights to accentuate not be too bright to see. When you're ready to install your lighting, be sure to call an electrician in Ahwatukee.
Alcove lighting is only one type of lighting that you can play when you're designing your living room lighting.

Swimming Pool Lights

Electric wiring in your swimming pool may not seem like a good idea.  After all, electrical wiring and water obviously don't mix.  However, if you do it safely, you can totally transform your pool

An Electrician in Ahwatukee and Life in the Foothills

Ahwatukee is a part of the Phoenix area, and as such is home to dozens upon dozens of swimming pools. Considering the fact that Arizona has some of the hottest summer temperatures of anywhere else in the US, a swimming pool is a welcome source of relief from the hot sun of the Arizona desert.  But what about October when the weather's much nicer?  First off, what a lot of people don't know is that you can swim a lot later here than your friends and family back east.  Unless you have a heated pool, however, fairly soon you're going to have to stop swimming.  That is of course, unless you're a member of the Ahwatukee chapter of the Polar Bear club.  You know, those people back east who get their jollies from swimming in icy rivers and lakes.  So if you need to stop swimming, what do you do with your swimming pool?
Well, when it is the time that you're not using your pool, it is the perfect time to do some maintenance.  Drain your pool, and check out the surface for any cracks in the cement.  You also call an electrician in to look at your swimming pool lights for a lot of reasons. The first is safety.

Rewire Your Pool Now, Get Ready for the Summer

Take this time of year, and rewire your swimming pool. If you have the money and the desire, if your pool isn't heated, this may be the time of year to remodel and make your pool a heated pool. That means swimming all year round. In the winter, it feels really nice to swim in warm water with the cool autumn air. However, another reason to rewire your swimming pool is electrical safety. If your swimming pool's lights are below the water surface and they have any cracks or damage to them, someone could jump in the water and suffer from a potentially fatal electrical injury.

So let's see if we have this straight. Electrical safety: check. Improved functionality: check. And an overall better pool: check. All wonderful reasons for calling an electrician in Ahwatukee to work on your swimming pool's wiring.

Hiring an Electrician in Ahwatukee: Why Local Pros Matter

If you're looking to hire an electrician in Ahwatukee, it's best to go with someone local. First off, if you hire a locally owned business, more money stays in Arizona, which in turn makes the state more prosperous. Dodge Electric is a locally based business that proudly serves the Ahwatukee area as well as the greater Phoenix area. Ahwatukee is in the southeast corner of the valley bordering Chandler, Tempe, and Phoenix. Dodge Electric has a staff of professional electricians. We can do any wiring you need, and at competitive rates, and most importantly of all, we're licensed.
What difference does a license make? Well, without one, you run the risk of someone who doesn't know what he is doing that may cause a problem with your wiring. In fact that is one of our biggest sources for new business. It usually happens something like this. Our customer calls someone that isn't licensed in an attempt to save money. The 'professional' does something not only wrong, but very wrong, such as mixing aluminum and copper wire together or mixing the wrong gauge of wire. There's some damage, and then we have to fix it. So what started out as a simple repair job for the customer ended up being more expensive in the long run. Another reason to go with a pro, is that with them being in the industry, they're also more aware of new technologies to help your home be not only wired but wired safely.

Electrical Wiring

It's just wire, how tough could it be? Well, first off, what gauge of wire are you working with? Do you need a GCFI installed or not? What type of wire do you need for your job? Do you need home network wiring? How about a dimmer switch? Will a dimmer switch work with a CFL bulb? Questions like these can turn your project into a boondoggle, not a triumph. The right Ahwatukee electrician can literally make the world of difference. And what's more we're big on electrical safety.
So remember, some jobs require a professional. If you want work done on your car, you call a mechanic. You want someone to work on your teeth. And for wiring? You call an electrician in Ahwatukee.

Electrical Wiring and Home Improvement

Electric wiring is one home improvement you should really call an electrician in to do.
Your Electrician in Ahwatukee knows all about wiring
Your Electrician in Ahwatukee knows all about wiring

Electrical Injury and a Residential Electrician Contractor

residential electrician contractor will help to keep you safe.  Electrical injuries are some of the most dangerous ones around.
As we covered in our last article, electrical safety is of paramount importance.  According to Medscape:
"Electrical injuries have become a more common form of trauma with a unique pathophysiology and with high morbidity and mortality. They encompass several types, as follows: lightning injury,[1] high-voltage injury, and low-voltage injury.[2, 3, 4] Clinical manifestations range from transient unpleasant sensations without apparent injury to massive tissue damage.[5] Some electrocutions are instantly fatal. Familiarity with the mechanisms of injury and the principles of therapy improves patient care.[6]
Four classes of electrical injuries are as follows[7] :
True electrical injuries - The person becomes part of the electrical circuit and has an entrance and exit site
Flash injuries - Superficial burns caused by arcs that burn the skin; no electrical energy travels through the skin
Flame injuries - Caused by ignition of the persons clothing by arc; electricity may or may not travel through the person’s body
Lightning injuries - A unique type of injury that occurs at extremely high voltages for the shortest duration; the majority of electrical flow occurs over the body." [READ SOURCE]

However, it isn't just electrical injury that may be an issue,  even a simple mistake such as mixing two different metals in your wiring can cause a chemical reaction and ultimately a fire.  And the scary thing is that sometimes, this can take a while to manifest.  So you could conceivably have a ticking time bomb in the wiring of your home.  However, there are some other reasons to get an electrician

Hiring an Electrician in Ahwatukee:  Done Right and in One Try

Electricians have to go through a lot of training before they are licensed by the State of Arizona.  They have to get training from a technical school as well as a lot of on the job experience.  Ultimately, they have to take a test administered by the state and then and only then do they have a license to be an electrician.
What does this have to do with you?  Well, you can be sure that you're getting someone who can and will do the job right the first time.  If you don't know what you're doing, you can get into a lot of trouble.  You're better off calling an electrician in Ahwatukee.

Hiring a professional electrical contractor in Ahwatukee is based an a combination of skill, whether or not they're licensed, and their reputation. Ahwatukee according to this article excerpt from WIKIPEDIA: "Ahwatukee is a triangular shaped urban village of the City of Phoenix, Arizona bordered on the north by South Mountain Park and Guadalupe Road, on the east by Interstate 10 and the cities of Chandler, Guadalupe, and Tempe, and on the south and west by the Gila River Indian Community. It is the southernmost of the city's 15 urban villages. As of 2010, the 35.8 square-mile (92.7 km²) neighborhood has a population of 77,249. Although annexed by the city of Phoenix between 1978 and 1987, before substantial residential growth, many of Ahwatukee's residents do not strongly associate their region with the rest of the city, due in part to its geographic isolation (South Mountain and South Mountain Park separate Ahwatukee from the other 14 urban villages of Phoenix, which lie to the north). Legend has it that in 1921, Dr. and Mrs. W.V.B. Ames built a house on approximately 2,000 acres (810 ha) on the southeast side of South Mountain. They gave the area its original Spanish name, Casa de SueƱos, which in English means "House of Dreams". Dr. Ames died within just three months of moving into the house, and after Mrs. Ames' death, in 1933, the house and most of the land was willed to St. Luke's Hospital. In 1935, the house and land was bought by Miss Helen Brinton, who appeared to have retranslated the name of the house to the Crow word which now serves as the name of the village.[READ MORE]
